Hermana Oram
Hola, My name is Sydney Oram. I am have been called to serve in the Honduras Tegucigalpa Mission.
This week has been real dead in the streets, There is not many people but it has been fun. The best part about Semana Santa is all the food they just break out all the seafood and it is so good. We had the best crab soup last night with a huge chunk of crab and it was so good. I just love the food here. But yeah, this week we tried to get into a place called Zarahemla. You would think missionaries would be able to get in super easy. Not the case, we ended up getting yelled at by the security guard and told that my whole gringa innocent act wasn’t going to work to get us in (the gringa innocent act has always worked...until this big ole lady of a security guard). But we ended up waiting outside until they finally gave us permission to go in. I was about to share 3 Nephi 8:8 with her but I didn’t want to get charged for threats or anything. But yeah. We have ebeen sharing a bunch the churches #HALLELUJAH promotion. Everyone has to check out the MoTab virtual Hallelujah Chorus it is so sweet! But as for everything else it was a slow week. We taught some people some accepted us, some rejected us, and some just didn’t care too much but it is what it is, I suppose.
Happy Easter everyone. #Hallelujah Hermana Oram

Bueno, this week was the week of all weeks. We were on a super secret mission to find a vaccine that "supposedly doesn’t exist in Honduras" CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. So Hermana Harmon and I walked halfway across Tegucigalpa ended up in a morgue, a hospital basement, a sketchy Chinese pharmacy with a 8 foot Chinese vase, secretly receiving phones numbers and calling head honchos and crossing a freeway until we finally found the secret WAREHOUSE MANDOFER. I am not going to lie when I signed up for this whole mission deal I didn’t even imagine all the crazy situations I would get myself into. But we also got to go on a secret mission to my old stomping grounds of Danli. I got real baggy walking the streets (quick shout out to Hermana Blanchard I just wasn’t the same hitting up la colonia los profesores without you). But yeah it was a fun little trip I snuck us into a old hospital with my fake gringa confused place and cut like 90 people in line. It works every time. But yeah life is super good we are teaching lots of people and we are just loving life here in Girasoles. We partied it up yesterday to celebrate Hermana Harmon's birthday she is now 20, so holla. But now this week is Easter week and I am super excited even though there isn’t many people in the street during Semana Santa but it is a good opportunity to guilt them into listening to us!
Happy Easter everyone! Hermana Oram Well life is good and such a party in Tegucigalpa and when I say party I mean a missionary party full of opening the mouth, teaching lessons and trying to baptize all day every day. I just love it. We have been doing good in the good ole Giralsoles or the Gira or the Sunflower or the 21 or whatever you want to call it we have like a billion names. We have been finding people like crazy and we also found a lost dog. No one can hide form us. No one. But yeah we should have a baptism soon hopefully Mario is just the coolest and he is inviting his friends and everything and he isn’t even a member yet. I just love when people get excited about the gospel and bring there friends. I think Lehi was into that too. But yeah life is good and we are just contacting. Lately we have been trying to get creative with our contacting since we cant knock doors like the elders can here in safe, safe, safe Honduras. So we have been teaching taxi lessons, which is pretty much teaching the taxi driver everything her could ever want to know about the church in the short time we are in his taxi. It is real convenient because he cant go anywhere...we are in a moving vehicle and we are paying him. It is a win win for everyone. But yeah we just usually attack people in the streets, cars waiting at stoplights, ladies selling in pulperias, the works. My favorite open the mouth still ahs to be with the guy on the horse up in the mountains but it is pretty fun just talking to everyone all day every day. Life is good I still have 9 million years here and I want to keep it that way. Keep up the good work. Love ya.
Hermana Oram Well this week involved some cool X-rays and lots of running around, a house check by one of the Seventy and a huge slumber party in our house.
Let me explain. The consequences of the dumb hammacka trick still are continuing. I got an X-ray tuesday just to make sure everything is good because well it has been like 6 weeks and it still kinda hurts. But yeah it was all good in the X.ray. I think I know like everyone in the hospital now I think I am there more than anywhere else. The running around was just from being a missionary. Kinda part of our job. Well we had the privilege of having a conference with Elder Alonso of the Seventy and his wife. At the end of the conference President announced that they were going to go do a few house check and well of the lucky three house we were on of them. I guess thats what you get for living like 2 minutes from the Mission Presidents house. So yeah luckily we kinda had a feeling we should clean the night before and we passed with flying colors except we don't have a smoke detector but it is a concrete house so I don't know how it would burn, but better safe than sorry. But it was kinda cool having a General Authority and his wife in our house. The conference was good too we learned a lot about the Atonement and the importance of it in missionary work and the importance of being obedient and teaching with the Spirit. Oh and I also cumplir-ed 16 months and well we crazy celebrated with my fun laxative I had to take for my X-ray and Cinnabon. p.s. my companion is the greatest ever in the world SHOUTOUT TO HERMANA HARMON As for everything else we are doing good we are going strong and we have some baptisms soon. I love you all. Hermana Oram |
