Well this week we had the awesome opportunity to listen Elder Ochoa of the Seventy who came to our mission and talked about the things he learned during the meetings for the general authorities following general conference. Well he talked a lot about mejorando the sacrament meeting. I think that is something that we can ALL improve on. In the whole world we can try to have a little more reverence for the sacrament and maybe put away our phones...I was totally guilty of playing a little angry birds during sacrament meeting or checking up on good ole Instagram but now when I traded my iPhone for a frijolito (that’s what they call flip phones here) that has no games and holds a charge of about 30 minutes I can see how tonta I was with my dumb phone. I missed so many opportunities and lessons just with my face in my stupid phone. Now none of those matters... in the mission it doesn’t matter what Susy posted on Facebook about her breakfast. It is did Maria read the book of Mormon last night. It is crazy how all of my priorities changed so fast but really we aren’t going to be judged the last day by how many likes our #selfiesunday got, but how we spent our Sunday. Just some food for thought.
I am loving, loving, loving Honduras and my time here is going seriously wayyyy to fast. Oh and Hermana Oram has some crazy kind of power the other night we were walking in the street (cobblestone road) and I was so ticked that everyone was just watching Mexican soap operas and didn’t want to listen to us. so I turned to my companion and said I want to cut all these power lines (as we passed under a bunch of cables) she was super confused and then I said again I want to cut all of the power here then I raised up my arm and made scissors with fingers and pretended to cut the power lines like 20 feet about my head and began fake cutting the power and BOOM!!! ALL THE POWER OF OUR WHOLE TOWN ALL THE WAY TO TEGUCIGALPA went out. We flipped out and started dying laughing and two people saw the whole thing so I wouldn’t been surprised if rumors start about the Gringa Mormon Witch but yeah I cut the power of a third of Honduras for about 45 minutes. But we got to have like two lessons in the dark without soap opera interruptions!! I don’t even know why they watch those novelas they are trashy.
Love,
Hermana Oram
